Solving LCD Blackening and Touch Malfunction Issues...
Solving LCD Blackening and Touch Malfunction Issues... ODHitec Makes a Mark with New Technology On the 17th, ODHitec held a panel PC demonstration event at its headquarters in Hongseong, Chungnam Province. The new cooling system maximizes the performance of outdoor panel PCs.Industry professionals praised the 'impressive technology,' anticipating accelerated efforts to penetrate both domestic and international markets. On the 17th, ODHitec unveiled its innovative outdoor panel PCs equipped with advanced technology at its headquarters in Hongseong, Chungnam Province. The demonstration attracted significant interest from industry professionals in the electric vehicle (EV) charging sector. At 2 PM, representatives from ODHitec, including CEO Yim Ro-bin, and around 30 guests from client companies such as EVSIS and Modern Tech gathered to witness the unveiling of the main product: an outdoor panel PC featuring the Solar Control System (SCS) technology. CEO Yim emphasized, “The most notable feature of our product is that it simultaneously resolves the issues of LCD blackening and touch malfunctions.” He explained that the core of the SCS technology involves creating space between the LCD and the touchscreen, allowing air to circulate with the help of a fan. This effectively disperses heat that accumulates in the LCD. In actual temperature tests, products equipped with SCS only reached 87.1 degrees Celsius, whereas non-equipped models peaked at 99.2 degrees, resulting in blackening. Yim likened this to opening a door in a sauna to release hot air.The research team at ODHitec also presented extreme environmental testing results, demonstrating that the panel PC with SCS technology operates stably in temperature variations from -30 to +80 degrees Celsius. This significantly surpasses the limitations faced by existing products. To enhance touchscreen stability, ODHitec has adopted an innovative approach by developing a 'touch controller' that is resistant to extreme temperatures, as well as being waterproof and dustproof, ensuring accurate touch recognition even in harsh environments. They have also applied a high-temperature suitable inorganic printing method to improve issues with silk printing detachment. Yim stated, “The primary problem with existing touchscreens is malfunctions at high temperatures. Our product incorporates high-temperature suitable inorganic printing and features a touch controller that is resistant to both high and low temperatures, as well as waterproof and dustproof capabilities, thus solving this issue.” ODHitec’s new product also boasts noteworthy innovations in energy consumption efficiency. Developed in accordance with the U.S. Energy Star certification standards, the product uses lidar and ambient light sensors to automatically adjust screen brightness based on conditions. This not only reduces energy consumption but also extends product lifespan. A technology research institute representative explained, “At night, the screen brightness can be reduced by 50%, and when no users are present, it switches to power-saving mode. This can reduce energy consumption by up to 40% and double the product lifespan.” Following the technology introduction, the event continued with technology demonstrations and a factory tour of ODHitec, allowing attendees to see the products they had heard about in person. The testing process for the company’s proprietary printing detachment technology and the production of touch controllers were particularly impressive. CEO Yim shared, “In the early stages, we relied on Chinese products, which led to various issues regarding A/S, delivery times, and quality. Therefore, we aimed to develop products that we could take responsibility for, such as localizing the touch controller and producing it domestically.” He noted that while the domestic PC products are produced as ODMs in China, export models are collaboratively developed with Taiwanese companies DFI and Nexcom to obtain FCC certification for exports to the U.S. and other markets. One attendee from a client company remarked, “ODHitec’s technology was very impressive.” They added, “We are currently strengthening our lineup of rapid chargers and look forward to collaborating closely in the future.” Another participant commented, “This technology is a differentiated advancement rather than just an improvement. Given the severe LCD failures in rapid chargers at highway rest areas, it seems suitable for addressing those issues.” ODHitec already supplies products to major domestic EV charging companies such as Chaevi, EVSIS, and Modern Tech, and has recently begun exporting 250 panel PCs to a U.S. company, marking the start of its expansion into overseas markets. Yim expressed confidence, stating, “We currently hold over 70% of the domestic charging panel PC market, and we believe this new technology will further strengthen our market dominance.”
